littlecup_december2012Thanks for your interest in me and my work! I am currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona’s Communication Department. I graduated with a Ph.D. in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism at the the University of Southern California, researching organizations, communication networks, technology, and information asymmetries in different contexts.

I’m currently a Wildcat, but I’m also a former Trojan, Knight (B.A. in Political Science), Owl (M.A. in Political Science), and Buffalo (M.A. in Journalism). My past experience outside of academia includes working in survey operations for a political/corporate research & consulting firm and as an audience analyst for a national non-profit independent television network. Please see my LinkedIn page for more information on me and my past work.

My current research focuses on how people (or other entities, like groups or organizations) resolve or take advantage of information asymmetries, communication’s role in organizing processes, and the development of information goods in different contexts, particularly in online communities and social media. I’m also interested in the impact of technology on these processes.

Theoretically, I’m interested in signaling theory, evolutionary theory, collective action and public goods theories, networks, and complex systems. Contextually, I’m interested in self-organized social systems, traditional & non-traditional organizations both online and offline, social media, information and communication technologies, and the media industry. Methodologically, I have conducted both quantitative research and qualitative research, and I have training in advanced quantitative methods. Please visit my Research page for more information on the projects I’m working on right now.
